About a year ago, I came across The Private Equity Podcast, which is hosted by a guy named Alex Rawlings. For those of you who are not familiar with the podcast, Alex runs an executive search firm that is focused on private equity called Raw Selection. Since then I have been an avid listener to the episodes with PE firm partners, operating partners and other players within the PE ecosystem. I am admittedly still learning about the business building aspects of working with lower middle market sized businesses and this podcast has been extremely valuable to me. In fact, my partner and I have reached out to past guests and have started establishing relationships with them.
With all of that as the context, it was my pleasure to be interviewed on the podcast. Alex and I discussed a number of topics, including:
Why PE firms might be overlooking compelling investment opportunities by not spending time on microcap public companies;
How my public equities background translates to private markets investing; and
The attractiveness of microcap and nanocap take privates.
