The Case for Making Reusable Digital Identities Ubiquitous
Interview with Jeff Schwartz, Founder & CEO of Dentity
This is the second week in a row when we released a podcast with someone who was looking for a product that didn't exist and decided to go build it themselves. After being the CEO of four public companies, Jeffrey Schwartz was trying to figure out how to solve the problem that many people on the internet are not who they say they are. He couldn't find a good digital identity solution for consumers so he founded Dentity, with the goal of re-establishing trust in internet commerce. In this wide-ranging conversation, we discussed:
· How a self-described “auto guy” got into the digital identity space;
· The business model surrounding creating digital identities for people;
· Why he enjoys building multi-sided markets from scratch;
· The role that AI is going to play when it comes to demand for verifiable digital identities; and
· The benefits of having a decentralized structure rather than one that is centralized.
Please enjoy the full episode here:
When I asked Jeff about the inspiration behind founding the company, he said that the big idea was to give consumers access to enterprise grade digital identity services that could be used to create trust and safety in the $500 billion-plus peer-to-peer economy.
Please stay tuned for another great episode of Compounders to be released next week.
Sincerely,
